Daikin Perfera

The Perfera is about as good as a single-room split gets, with an A+++ SEER/SCOP rating and a 19 dB(A) whisper mode. As an air-to-air heat pump it delivers strong low-cost heat down to well below freezing, making it a credible primary heat source for a room, not just a summer cooler. You pay a premium, but built-in Onecta Wi-Fi, the Flash Streamer purifier and occupancy sensing justify it.

Fujitsu ASYG12KMCF

Fujitsu's KMCF is a no-nonsense, well-built wall split that undercuts the premium brands while keeping A++ cooling and a slim 222 mm-deep indoor unit. Its SCOP of 4.4 makes it a capable air-to-air heat pump for everyday room heating, if not the most efficient here. The KMCF adds built-in Wi-Fi over the base KMCC, making it the version to buy.
