Privacy Policy

Last updated 19 September 2026

PowerGuide ("we", "us") is the UK comparison site at powerguide.uk. This page explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with and your rights under UK GDPR.

Who runs this site

PowerGuide is run by Rob Hammond, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the personal data described on this page. The quickest way to reach us about anything on this page, including a request to see, correct or delete your data, is the contact form.

What we collect

Installer quote form

On solar, battery, heat pump and air-con pages you can request installer quotes. That form collects your name, postcode, email and optionally phone number, plus the vertical you enquired about and the page you submitted from. It's sent to our backend and stored so an installer partner can contact you with quotes.

Contact form

The contact form collects whatever you choose to enter: optionally your name and email, plus your message or, for a data-correction report, the product and the correction itself. Name and email are optional for a data report and for general contact.

Postcode for tariff rates

Tariff pages and calculators can take your postcode to show your grid region's rates. The postcode and region are kept in your browser's local storage only. The postcode is sent to Octopus Energy's public API to find the region and is never sent to PowerGuide. "Forget" on any postcode box removes it.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, rough location, device type). Analytics cookies are off by default, so Google's gtag.js loads on every page, but with analytics and advertising signals denied until you choose otherwise in the cookie banner shown on your first visit. Choosing "Accept" turns analytics cookies on for that browser; choosing "Reject" (or not choosing) keeps them off. You can change your choice at any time via Manage cookies in the footer.

Legal basis

Who we share it with

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as it's useful for the purpose it was given:

You don't have to wait for these periods to elapse; ask us via the contact form and we'll delete your data sooner.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent for further contact. Get in touch via the contact form to exercise any of these.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes.
