Who it suits

  • Solar without a battery: midday export earns the full rate
  • Anyone who wants a simple SEG rate without moving import supplier

Who it is not for

  • Battery homes that can export at peak: Flux pays more then
  • Homes not on Octopus for import: the export-only SEG product pays less

Questions

Do I have to be an Octopus import customer for Outgoing?
For the headline rate, yes. Octopus offers a lower export-only SEG rate to homes supplied by someone else; the SEG guide lists both.
Is Outgoing the best export rate?
It is the best-known flat rate with no installer condition. The SEG guide on this site lists higher rates that require the supplier's import tariff or their installer.
